Beer in Sri Lanka

Hi!

Gosh I haven't posted for,,,,, er a while. Sorry about that. Sober Mummy and her epic new book has continued to keep me on the AF path and life has been pretty steady. Still have the blues but I am SO MUCH happier not drinking. So so sosososososo much happier. Which means the family is too.

I would never be where I am now if I was still drinking & drugging - we are amazingly on a 3 month sabbatical in Sri Lanka! Woohoo.

Slight panic though: NO NON ALCOHOLIC BEER TO BE FOUND

Now I've become quite reliant upon my daily becks blue... and assumed, because every other country I've visited including India seemed to be up to speed on our sober brewery needs. But not Sri Lanka. WTF?

After a sweaty 15 hour journey here all I wanted was an ice cold AF beer. Instead I had a sticky fruit punch (I'm so spoilt!) and watched my husband down his cool crisp beer with hatred boiling my blood. Poor him. But more poor me.

Anyway. I've adapted to Fever Tree Tonic with lime and ice. Not the same but I guess my message is... careful not to become too reliant on something (aka addicted in my case!) because I damn nearly had a real beer. All I know is.... I NEVER regret NOT drinking, but pretty much every time I drank / drugged I regretted it.

Namaste everyone!

I hate festivals

Don't shoot me, I hate festivals

Hasn't stopped me going to them. But as I peruse Glastonbury online from the safety of my bed, it occurred to me there are other things I don't like but do, sorry did for pretty much my whole life which are festival related

- glamping (oxymoron)
- going to bed stupidly late
- being sick (as a result of taking too much of a substance my body couldn't handle)
- pressure to do things I don't want to to please people or out of fear of missing out (FOMO)

I mean the list goes on, and on. But what I really want to say is this

I'm happy, truly happy for people who do like festivals I wish you all the joy in the world at them  they just aren't for me I'm going to say no thank you from now on.

And I'm sodding grateful not to be peeing in a field off my head having lost my "squad"

We do however have a teepee in the garage that I want to do a family camp in. Chaos but the right sort for me.

Love to all the soberistas out there
